Celebrated for his legendary performance as King Odewale in The Gods Are Not to Blame and his unforgettable role in Saworoide, he leaves behind an unmatched 60-year legacy on the stage, screen, and in the classroom.
Nollywood actor Kunle Afod confirmed Oyewo’s passing in an Instagram post.
In his words, Afod wrote, ”Tonight, we lost a true legend. Kola Oyewo has taken his final bow. His remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest well, sir. Your work lives on. It’s a wrap.”
The popular actor cum scholar marked his 80th birthday in March 2026 after battling ill health for some months.
