The Olubadan-In-Council, on Monday, nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The nomination took place at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Oba Ladoja was not in attendance at the meeting which had all the beaded crown High Chiefs.

The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola who presided over the meeting moved the motion which was seconded by Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole.

He said, “We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of Office to the new Olubadan.

“The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible.

“He (Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week.”

Ladoja’s nomination is coming following demise of the 43th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

JomogNews reports that Oba Olakulehin, who received staff of office as the 43rd Olubadan on July 12, 2024, died on July 7, 2025 at the age of 90. The monarch died barely one year on the throne.

According to Ibadan Obaship system, JomogNews learnt that Ladoja, who is the topmost chief in the Olubadan line of the Chieftaincy rung, is the next-in-line to succeed Oba Owolabi who ascended the throne in 2024 from the Military Line of the rung.
