A year after the demise of the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, the family of the late governor has reignited the feud with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

This is just as the wife of the late governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, kicked against the governor’s plan to organise a memorial lecture to mark the late Akeredolu’s passage.

Widow of the late governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, on her verified social media page, accused the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of been deceptive about the planned lecture.

Betty Akeredolu accused Aiyedatiwa of rubbishing the legacies of late Akeredolu.

She said “Lucky, you are preoccupied with rubbishing Aketi’s legacy; you can’t succeed, anyway.”

“Anybody close to Aketi and Arabinrin becomes your enemy. Your minions are scared to get close otherwise they lose their appointments.

“Now you want to pretend by organising one yeye lecture for Aketi’s memorial as an entry point to chop money on Aketi’s head.”

A source close to the Akeredolu’s family said that the family had over the past five months commenced preparations for the first memorial of their late Patriarch and also sent invitation to the Governor.

According to the source “Despite sending invitation to the Governor and intimating him with the plans of the family to organise the first remembrance for the late Governor, Aiyedatiwa didn’t inform the Akeredolu’s family that he’s planning an event.

“To make matters worse, he’s also planning to hold his own event on the same day the family is having theirs in Owo.

“Any right thinking person should understand that the greatest legacy Aketi left behind is his family.

“You can’t continue to rubbish his family and treat them as enemies, yet you claimed you are honoring his memory.

“Why did you not inform the family that you have a program organized already? If they could find you worthy to attend their program in Owo and extended invitation to you, why did you not extend invitation to them for your own program? Can you head someone else’s head behind them?

Meanwhile, the State government insisted that the lecture will hold as scheduled despite opposition by the late former governor’s wife.

The Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, posted on his Facebook handle, “Please, join us on Friday as we honour our former governor”.

Adeniyan also posted the flier of the event.

Vanguard also noticed that the jingle of the lecture has been aired on broadcast media and circulated on social media platforms by the state government.
