This was made known by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, after a meeting on Monday with the President at the State House in Abuja.

According to him, fixing such damages responsible for power outages in the north should not last more than three to five days but the delay being experienced is due to the insecurity in the affected area.

The Minister, however, disclosed that President Tinubu has given instructions to the National Security Adviser and all other relevant security agencies for measures to be put in place to allow personnel effect the repairs.

Briefing newsmen at the State House, Adelabu said; “Fixing a transmission line, within 3 days to 5 days, we should finish, that is when you work under standard temperature and pressure (STP), when there are no security threats, when you are sure of your safety in the area.

“Why it has escalated to this level is because we have not been able to guarantee the security of lives of those that will work, but Mr. President has assured me that he has also instructed the NSA, the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff to provide the required security for the people that will fix the demolished line.”

Recall that the power outage affecting areas in the north-east, north-west and parts of north-central occurred after the Shiroro-Kaduna line was vandalized by insurgents, leading to blackouts in Kaduna, Kano and other major cities in the north.
