Wumi Toriola adds to the list of female filmmakers winning in box office.

Early this year, Funke Akindele made history in as the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over a billion at cinemas, as her latest movie, A Tribe Called Judah, grossed over N1.4 billion. It was no surprise to many as Funke is one of the most hardworking women in Nollywood. Her movies in the past three years, A Tribe Called Judah, Battle On Buka Street, and Omo Ghetto The Saga, are the highest-grossing Nollywood films ever.

Adding to the list, Mercy Aigbe made her first delve into Cinema production with Ada Omo Daddy which was well received by Nigerians. The movie star couldn’t keep calm when her movie grossed one hundred and eighty point seven million and became the 3rd highest grossing movie. This was a huge milestone, especially with competition from Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
