Just In: Ohinoyi Of Ebira Land, Ado Ibrahim Dies At 95

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr Ado Ibrahim, is dead. The paramount ruler of Ebiraland was said to have died in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 95.

Palace sources told our correspondent in Lokoja the he died in an Abuja hospital where he had been receiving treatment for age-related ailment.

Before ascending the throne, he was a successful businesman who lived most parts of his life in Lagos.

The late Ado Ibrahim was coronated in 1997 as the Ohinoyi of Ebira land by the then-Governor of Kogi State, late Prince Abubakar Audu.

He took over from the his predecessor Alhaji Sanni Omolorim who reigned between 1957 and 1997.

Born on February 7, 1929, late Ado Ibrahim attended both western nursery and Quranic schools, and went on to conclude his primary education in 1940 at the Native Authority (NA) primary school in Okene, Northern Region (now Kogi State).

He, began his secondary school education at Ondo Boys High School and later on moved to Oduduwa College, where he graduated in 1949.

In 1954, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a master’s degree from Harvard Business School in 1959.

His remains will be buried today in Okene according to the Islamic rites.
