Ondo: Four Shot In Failed Robbery Attempt

Four people were on Tuesday shot in a botched robbery attempt at Idanre, headquarters of Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victims, who are working at a popular pharmacy, cum supermarket in Idanre, were allegedly approached by the robber, who was reported to be a local political thug, with the intention of taking their bags by force.

An eyewitness stated that the crime was committed by the suspect, identified as “Para,” in the Ojota axis of Idanre, where the store was located.

“Para has always been doing it. Para went to the pharmacy to collect money but the owners of the supermarket refused to give him saying it was early in the morning as they were yet to make sales for the day.

“He then snatched their bag and as they started dragging the bag with him, he brought out a gun and shot four people instantly.

“They have been rushed to the General hospital in Idanre where they are now receiving medical treatment.”

In response to the incident, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, acknowledged that it was a robbery case and that the suspect had been detained by police.

Video: Two Dead, Many Injured In Lagos Transport Workers’ Fracas

There was mayhem in Iyana-Iba area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria as factions of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) clashed.

Two people were feared dead in the mayhem as dangerous weapons were freely used by the factions.

It was gathered that the battle of supremacy was over who should control a new park at Iyana-Iba.

A trending video on social media saw police officers watching and doing nothing as the hoodlums clashed. throwing stones and using other dangerous weapons.

But the Lagos State Government said it is investigating the union fracas that occurred at Iyana-Iba and Lagos Island.

He warned the protesting members of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) not to disrupt the peace and tranquility being enjoyed in the State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation Hon. Sola Giwa gave this warning today after fracas broke out in some parts of the State following a protest by some RTEAN union members demanding the removal of the National President of their Association.

Addressing the protesting members, the Transport Special Adviser called for calm, saying that the Government would not tolerate the breakdown of law and order in the State.

He added that the commissioner of police has been duly informed and that he has deployed officers to the affected areas to deal with erring members of the union.

The Special Adviser said the State is investigating the allegations leveled against the National President of the union and would resolve every lingering issue calling on members to maintain peace.

“The government has listened to your outcry, we urge you to maintain peace as we will not hesitate to invoke the Lagos State riot act when necessary,” added.

POLICE ARREST TRAFFIC ROBBERS ON IKORODU ROAD

Operatives of Ketu Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three members of a traffic robbery gang notorious for dispossessing motorists of their belongings at Ile-Iwe/Kosofe,
Ikorodu Road, in Ketu area of the State.

The suspects namely Segun Olaiya ‘m’ aged 20, Ayinde Waris ‘m’ aged 19 and Bashiru Mohammed aged 28 were arrested on Monday, September 26, 2022 at about 1900hrs while attacking some motorists by policemen on covert operation in the area.

The suspects are currently assisting the police in an ongoing investigation to arrest other members of their gang. Suspects would be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, has directed that efforts be sustained across the state towards ensuring that all miscreants are apprehended and dealt with in accordance with the law.

Lagos Police Arrests Buses Loaded With Ammunition In Ikorodu (PHOTOS)

Lagos Police has arrested buses loaded with ammunition in Ikorodu.

JomogNews reports that the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two buses loaded with large quantities of live cartridges, and three dismantled motorcycles at Poromope Estate, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.

This online news platform understands that a statement issued by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin on Saturday, September 24, said the operatives of Ikorodu Division also made some arrests.

The Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer said, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, Tukur Abdullah ‘m’ aged 35, Muazu Telim ‘m’ aged 50 and Dahiru Idris ‘m’ aged 36 were on their way to Katsina State.

“The suspects, recovered exhibits as well as the vehicles, with registration numbers KMC 438 YK and KMC 394 XF have been transferred to the Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja for further investigations.”
