The Kogi State Police Command has debunked media reports of a bomb explosion in Lokoja on Tuesday.
The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Edward Egbuka, while briefing journalists on Tuesday afternoon described the purported bomb explosion as a hoax.
He explained that the Command quickly deployed the bomb disposal unit to the area to ascertain the truth of the matter after it was informed of the development.
He told journalists that the bomb disposal unit of the Command confirmed that it was a hoax.
The Police Commissioner advised Journalists to always confirm crime-related reports at their disposal with the police before publication to avoid creating panic in the minds of the people.
Report had alleged an explosion was heard around the office of the Secretary to the State Government at about 8 30am on Tuesday.
