JomogNews Nigeria reports that Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski, has been named Striker of the Year at the Ballon d’Or 2021.

This online platform understands that it is the first of the two new awards that were presented on Monday night.

This new prize is given to the player with the most goals in a club in Europe and for their national sides.

Lewandowski has scored 38 goals in 30 league games in 2021 and has scored a goal every 66 minutes on average.

In total, the 33-year-old has 64 goals this year.

The Poland international was favourite to win the Ballon d’Or last year, but the ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
