The Deputy Governor of Anambra state has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
JomogNews Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday received APC Caretaker Committee Chairman and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Anambra Deputy Governor Dr. Nkem Okeke and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.
This confirmed that, Dr. Okeke is now a member of the ruling Party after dumping his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
APC Caretaker Committee Chairman and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma were present during the meeting.
This development is coming a few days after POLITICS NIGERIA accurately predicted the move.
Dr. Okeke first served as Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning, and again as Anambra State Commissioner for Works and Transport in the administration of Governor Peter Obi.
This is happening ahead of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State.
Dr Okeke’s principal, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State had last week paid a visit to President Buhari.
During the visit, Obiano reported the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to the President over the minister’s pronouncement that the Federal Government might declare a State of Emergency in Anambra to ensure that the November 6 governorship election in the state takes place.
After the meeting, Obiano revealed that Buhari is opposed to emergency rule in the state, adding that the President frowned at any form of intimidation ahead of the November 6 poll.
