This is contained in a statement issued after the meeting and which was made available to the newsmen by the Secretary, Civil Society and Pro Democracy Movement for Yinka Odumakin’s and Innocent Chukwuma’s Burials, Comrade AWA Bamiji.

The statement reads:

ODUMAKIN: TOTAL ACCOUNTABILITY ENDORSED BY CIVIL SOCIETIES AND DEDICATED TO FEMI FALANA @ 63.

This is to inform the general Public of the outcome of the crucial meeting of the Civil Society Organisation and Pro – Democracy Movement for Yinka Odumakin’s and Innocent Chukwuma’s Burials, which centred on the earlier accusation of collection, diversion, and sharing of N5, 000, 000 by Vera Okei, the younger Sister to Dr Joe Okei – Odumakin, the Wife of the Late Comrade Yinka Odumakin.

After the presentation of facts and figures on how the donation came in and what it was meant for, we came to the conclusion that, there was a misrepsentation of facts on the donation of N5, 000, 000. it is very important to bring the reports of the just concluded meeting to the general Public for posterity’s sake.

In the spirit of collective struggles and unity of purpose among the esteemed members of the Civil Societies in Nigeria, we hereby apologise to those who might felt offended by the earlier accusation most especially our Iron Lady in the Nigerian Democratic Struggles, Dr Joe Okei – Odumakin, and her ever restless younger Sister, Vera Okei.

It was also, established that at no time did senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, the Chairman of the Family and Afenifere burial committee, and another important member of the Committee, Hon Sola Lawal, rebuked Comrade Dr Joe Okei- Odumakin at an earlier meeting during the cause of the burial ceremony.
