Ganduje of Kano State, this morning, removed the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Sanusi, a former Nigerian Central Bank governor, ascended the throne in 2014, following the death of his grand uncle, Ado Bayero.
An official of the Kano State Government announced the “dethronement” on his twitter handle @dawisu, this afternoon.
After the initial controversy at the Kano State House of Assembly, the state government later confirmed it has removed the Emir.
The government is expected to announce a new Emir soon.
Earlier, there was crisis in the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday over the matter.
The lawmakers were seen in a video engaging in a free-for-all.
During the fight, security men were seen struggling to rescue the mace.
