The meeting was convened in respect of the perennial crisis rising from Lagos Island unit of Lagos State NURTW.
Leaders of the group fermenting the trouble Azeez Adekunle AKA Kunle Poly and Mustapha Adekunle AKA Sego were made to sign peace bond to ensure there is no reoccurrence of such ugly incident.
While his comment at the venue Kunle poly said he has nothing to say since his Chairman(MC) is in the gathering and he is a law-abiding citizen, “I don’t have much to say, I am a law-abiding citizen, my State Chairman is here and am ready to abide by the state chairman’s directive”
While the Commissioner of Police welcome them to the command and said we are all living witnesses to what happened in Lagos Island recently where people were injured and vehicles vandalized, we cannot fold our arms and allow such to continue happening. The cause of the clash is between two factions of NURTW on Lagos island. About four weeks ago, during the Lagos Island crisis, two innocent people were killed and properties damaged as a result of the turmoil caused by the warring factions.
” Our duties are to protect life and properties. When these incidents are ongoing, we did our underground research. In the course of our investigations, we discovered that NURTW Lagos Island branch is the one fighting.
“Investigation further revealed that the fight is between the two strong leaders in that area. So when we called on Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, and Azeez Adekunle, popularly known as Kunle poly, and some other groups, we discovered.
“The crisis was caused by the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lagos Island branch, and investigation revealed further is between the strong leaders in that area. It is believed that Unionism should guided by the rule of law and regulations. That is why we were able to invite State of the Union, ” the Commissioner said.
At the event the Chairman of the Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers and the executive were on ground and they have promised that they are going to call their members to order.
“We are only taking them by their words. They will be signing the bond order, and anybody who perpetrated the law after signing the bond orders form will be arrested and prosecuted, ” the Commissioner warned in his concluding statement.
On the part of the Chairman, Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya said that, he reported the actions of the factional leaders immediately he realised they were attempting to destroy his administration.
“I reported them when they are trying to destroy my Chairmanship .
It’s the Lagos Island two leaders’ boys that are fighting for supremacy .
The boys are fighting themselves.
The Lagos State government does not want miscreants hiding under the leadership of NURTW.”
He declared that it is the two leaders who are causing trouble.
“Lagos State does not like to see you with dangerous weapon or allowed yourself to be used as political thugs.
When I had about the fracas I took a step by visiting the scene of the crime and I summoned both parties for interrogation and made both parties to write undertaken.
“As the fracas is going, I was also summoned by the authority. But when I invited the two factions that ,what is their problems on this Island ,Azeez Adekunle was the first person to collect the Microphone to say that people who are members of the National Union, under Mustapha Adekunle popularly known as Sego are the ones fighting.
“I took a step further by inviting them to Lagos State Police Command ,because I see it as the next thing to do.
After inviting them, I noticed that some of these people are not Union Member ,and they came with them.
I asked Kunle Poly on how to solve the fracas within them.”
He replied ,”that people on the Island are all here and they pointed themselves and with immediate effect I handed them over to Area ‘G’ Command Ogba ,which is close by ,and we were all summoned.”
From there, the leaders where mandated to produce the persons causing trouble on the Island. Thereafter, they team up with some Police Officers and get them all arrested.
When they brought them before the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP, Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu, he knew those behind the crisis from his independent investigation, he had seen people making this trouble on the Island.
He stated that is desire is to get true members of the Union release.
“My own is that they should release my men, since their investigations had proved that my boys are not the one causing trouble on the Island.
Once they release them I will still take them to the State Council to write undertaken, that fracas will no longer occurred on Lagos Island, and if it should happen again ,I will personally hand them over to the Police, in fact I will not spare anyone.
“We came for peace, and I believe the CP had done the right thing by inviting the whole members to State Command headquarters.
Even before I became the State Chairman I was doing my best in the area of Community Policing, we are all Lagosians, and I believe if anything happened everybody knows who will suffer it.
We have earlier informed the Police ,that there are some people who are not Union members, but are hiding under National Union.
MC during the event noted he is ready to collaborate with the police to ensure there is lasting peace in Lagos State.
“I’m using this medium to tell the CP that I’m ready to cooperate with him because I don’t want anything to damage my tenure, because what I want is peace.
Even the Executive Governor of Lagos State Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, had earlier said ,that he wants peace, and I want peace to reign in my terrain.”

UK-Based Blogger Maureen Badejo Set For Court Appearance
Popular UK-based Nigerian blogger and social commentator, Maureen Badejo, is set to appear before the Federal High Court on Monday to answer to a multiple -count charge being proposed by the police legal team to find fault, her lawyer, Barrister George Ogunjimi, has disclosed.
Chief Ogunjimi, the Bamofin of Ojo, Lagos and a dual jurisdiction practitioner revealed that Badejo recently returned to Nigeria in connection with an appeal court matter scheduled to hold in Ibadan on the 16th of February 2026 prior to her encounter with law enforcement authorities.
According to him, Badejo was arrested and interrogated by operatives of the Cybercrime Unit at Adekunle Police Station, Yaba, Lagos, following a petition reportedly filed by Apostle Johnson Suleman.
He clarified that contrary to speculation, the blogger voluntarily honoured the police invitation herself, presenting at the station without resistance.
“She was not picked up or abducted. She went to the police station personally in response to the invitation,” Ogunjimi said.
The lawyer added that while she was still at the station, another petition allegedly emerged, this time from the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Pastor Daniel Olukoya, which subsequently led to her being held and later detained at the Alagbon detention facility.
Despite the development, Ogunjimi expressed confidence in her legal prospects, assuring supporters that his team is fully prepared to defend her.
“We are optimistic. The alleged offences are bailable, and by God’s grace, we will secure her bail on Monday,” he stated.
The case has since drawn public attention, particularly among Badejo’s followers both in Nigeria and the diaspora, as proceedings at the Federal High Court are expected to begin next week.
As of the time of reporting, the police had not issued an official statement explaining the legal basis for Badejo’s arrest or detention.
Badejo has previously been involved in legal disputes with Apostle Suleiman, including a 2022 UK High Court ruling that dismissed his defamation claim and ordered him to pay her £19,601 in costs.
She has also publicised allegations made by a former MFM pastor against Dr Olukoya.
The case has sparked renewed concerns over press freedom and the use of cybercrime laws in Nigeria.

JomogNews reports that while the Nigerian Police Force said 75 persons were confirmed killed in the assault on Woro and Nuku communities, local sources and international observers put the death toll significantly higher.
In a statement on X on Friday, the US Mission in Nigeria described the attack as “horrific,” saying more than 160 people were feared dead, with many still unaccounted for.
“The United States condemns the horrific attack in Kwara state in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of more than 160 people, with the death toll still unconfirmed and many still unaccounted for.
“We express our deepest condolences to the families of those affected by this senseless violence,” the statement read.
It welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to deploy security forces to protect affected communities.
“We welcome President Tinubu’s order to deploy security forces to protect villages in the area and his directive to federal and state officials to provide aid to the community and bring the perpetrators of this atrocity to justice,” the statement added.
The reaction adds to international condemnation of the attack, which had earlier drawn rebukes from the United Nations and the Republic of Türkiye.
Tinubu had ordered the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama and approved the creation of a new military command to lead the operation, following the assault on Woro and Nuku communities.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had also ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to Kaiama and surrounding communities to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said the deployment of troops under Operation Savannah Shield would help deter further violence, adding that security forces were already on the ground.
