The thanksgiving service, which had in attendance the relations of the victim, including her husband, Professor Wole Alamu, a lecturer at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), was held at Oke-Elerin Baptist Church, Ogbomoso.

The worshippers were full of praise to God for sparing the lives of the victims and also thanked the Federal government and the security agencies, including the local vigilante, for their concerted efforts.

According to them, if not for the intervention of God, this kind of service wouldn’t have taken place.

‘We thank God that all the kidnapped victims are returning safe and unhurt. We return all the glories to God.

In his sermon, Rev. Dr. Segun Oyelowo said the Christian body and the entire nation as a whole have every reason to thank God for the safe return of the people who were held captive for 56 days by the kidnappers.

He also thanked the Federal government, the Oyo State government, the security agencies, and eminent citizens of the Country for making the release possible.

Also, in a statement made available to the newsmen, the family of Mrs Alamu expressed deep appreciation to the Almighty God and to all Nigerians (home and abroad), for their prayers, support (morally and financially), and shared efforts, leading to the safe rescue of their loved ones from bandits’ captivity.

“The safe rescue inspired us with a big relief after long period of anxiety (56 days), afraid we might not see our loved ones again. But hearing the news on Friday (July 10, 2026), and to know they are in good condition is gladdening. The situation stretched our faith and resilience but with everybody’s strong, unalloyed support and concerted efforts we triumphed over evil. To God be the glory.”

The family stressed they needed to express gratitude to Nigerians.

“The rescue, a miracle, further convinced us that Nigerians are wonderful people in view of the outpouring of love from all over, and it is incumbent on us to formally thank the people. We will mention some specific names. Definitely, we can’t exhaust all, so those not mentioned should bear with us.

In a related development, the Seriki Fulani of Oriire Local Government, Alhaji Suleiman Aliu, said he was overwhelmed with joy at the release of the victims.

‘Since I was born and came of age, I never had such joy when I heard the news of their release.

Also, Rev. S.A. Oyekola of the First Baptist Church, Yawota, disclosed that one of the kidnapped kids is a pupil of a private school run by the church.

‘We are grateful to the government for making the release of the victims possible.

Also, the Elesin-Ele of Esienle, HRH Tajudeen Abioye, explained why he stayed put in the community when other residents fled.

“If I had fled the community during the crisis period, the whole place would have become desolate by now.

“Also, it would have sent a wrong signal to the people.”
