Just In: Tinubu Meets Wike, Fubara, Rivers Leaders In Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu last night has again met with the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and some leaders from the state in Aso Rock.

Although details of the discussions have not been disclosed, the meeting comes amid renewed tensions over political leadership recognition in Rivers State, as well as stalled efforts by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara.

The intervention also follows recent reports that President Tinubu had advised Governor Fubara, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to recognise Wike—a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member currently serving in the APC-led Federal Government—as the political leader of the party in Rivers State.

Fubara was said to have begged the minister, vowing never to disrespect him again.

The latest engagement is believed to be at least the fourth time President Tinubu has personally stepped in to mediate the prolonged political standoff between both men, underscoring the administration’s concern over stability in the oil-rich state.
