A fuel tanker carrying diesel has overturned on the Tincan Liverpool Bridge in the Apapa area of Lagos, spilling its contents and prompting residents to scoop the fuel.

Video footage shared by Channels Television shows people using bowls, buckets, and other containers to scoop fuel from underneath the overturned tanker.

“Happening now at Tincan Liverpool Bridge, Apapa: A tanker overturned, with people scooping its contents from underneath the bridge,” Channels TV reported.

JomogNews notes that tanker explosions remain a recurring tragedy in Nigeria, despite repeated warnings about the risks of collecting spilled fuel.

Authorities have yet to arrive at the scene, and residents are urged to exercise extreme caution, as PMS is highly flammable and can ignite with the slightest spark.
