Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has advised Nigerians whose visas were recently revoked by the administration of United States President Donald Trump to immediately return home.

Sani, in a post on X on Monday, urged affected Nigerians and other Africans to leave the country before they are apprehended by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE.

He warned that no matter how comfortable life abroad may seem, migrants must remember that they are not in their own country.

He said: “Nigerians and other thousands of Africans who’s visas were recently revoked by President Trump should hasten and leave the country and return home before they get arrested by ICE…No matter how long you live in the comfort of your adopted home, you will someday be reminded that it’s not your father’s house.”

JomogNews reports that the comment follows reports that Trump’s administration has begun implementing tougher immigration policies, including the mass revocation of visas and review of residency permits.

The move has triggered anxiety among immigrants from several African nations, with many uncertain about their legal status in the US.
