Rivers State is in a state of uncertainty as Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s location remains unknown following his reinstatement.

Citizens are waiting for clarity amid political divisions and speculation over when the governor will return to Port Harcourt.

The state had been under an emergency rule for six months after President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara.

On Wednesday, the president lifted the emergency declaration and restored Fubara to office.

Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator, officially handed over responsibilities back to the governor and urged the people to support his return.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly is set to resume legislative sittings from 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Assembly Residential Complex along the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the 27 lawmakers, who had arrived in the state prior to the end of the emergency rule, are already residing in the residential complex and are expected to begin their first session.

The uncertainty surrounding Governor Fubara’s return has left a temporary vacuum in leadership, but citizens are hopeful that both the executive and legislative branches can work together to ensure governance and prevent a repeat of past disruptions.
