A social media entrepreneur, Jael Kofoworola Akanji, popularly known as Alabike, has dragged one-time Nollywood actress and businesswoman, Aishat Elizabeth Anjorin (Lizzy Anjorin), before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos to seek enforcement of her fundamental human rights.

Akanji also sought damages in the sum of N500million against the 1st respondent (Lizzy Anjorin) for the inhuman and degrading treatment melted out to her and another N5million damages from both the 1st and 2nd respondents (Sunday Spirit White) for the inhuman and degrading treatment melted out to her.

Lizzy Anjorin had arraigned Alabike before a Lagos magistrate’s court on allegations bordering on defamation and false virtual publication on her social media handle.

In a counter suit, Alabike, through her counsel, Yakubu Eleto, prayed the court to declare the invasion of her residence by agents of the Nigeria Police without cause or any order of the court illegal, wrongful, unlawful and unconstitutional.

The applicant, Jael Kofoworola Akanji, popularly known as Alabike.

She also sought a declaration of her harassment, threats, and intimidation by the 1st respondent and 2nd respondent as unlawful, unconstitutional and violating the Applicant’s fundamental rights.

The prayers read in part, “An order enforcing the Applicants’ fundamental rights to personal liberty, dignity, of persons, freedom of movement, fair hearing, and freedom of expression.

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the Respondents, their agents, servants and privies from further harassing, intimidating, arresting and/or detaining Applicant or doing anything inconsistent with the Fundamental Right of the Applicant as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application.

“An order directing the 1 Respondents to render public apology to the Applicant together with the payments of exemplary compensation damages in the sum of N500,000,000.00 0,000,000.00 (Five Hundred Million Naira) to the Applicant for the inhuman and degrading treatment melted out to the Applicant.

“And such further orders as this Honourable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances of this case.”

Speaking further on the suit, Eleto alleged that the unlawful arrest and eventual arraignment of her client were orchestrated by some officers of the Nigeria Police.

He said, “It is no longer breaking news that Lizzy Anjorin—well-known for her controversial remarks on social media—alongside the Nigeria Police Force, orchestrated the unlawful arrest of Kofoworola Akanji on July 23, 2025.

“Despite clear instructions from the esteemed AIG at Zone 2, who advised that the matter was not a police issue and should be resolved privately, Kofoworola Akanji was unexpectedly charged to court the very next day and subsequently detained at Kirikiri for alleged offences she did not commit.

“Demonstrating remarkable courage, Kofoworola Akanji has taken legal action by filing a countersuit and seeking enforcement of her fundamental human rights.

“We stand firmly against the abuse of power and the oppression of the less privileged.”

The case has been adjourned to August 21, 2025.
