The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has accused Fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, of breaching aviation safety protocols by attempting to board a ValueJet flight with alcohol at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 5.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, made the allegation in a statement issued on Wednesday over the incident involving K1 and a ValueJet pilot.

The musician was reportedly nearly struck by an aircraft wing after the pilot began taxiing while he stood in front of the plane with some ground staff.

According to Orah, preliminary investigations revealed that K1 was booked on ValueJet’s morning Flight VK 201 to Lagos.

During boarding, Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain warned him against taking an unidentified liquid on board, in line with Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17, which prohibit liquids over 100ml unless medically necessary and declared.

She said K1 allegedly refused to comply and, when approached for clarification, poured the contents of the flask—later identified as alcohol—on an airline security officer.

The Flight Captain also intervened but faced resistance, prompting her to close the aircraft door after boarding was completed.

Orah stated that the musician then moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to vacate the area despite repeated requests. He was eventually escorted away by AVSEC’s crime unit for further investigation before being released.

FAAN condemned the behaviour, stressing that any actions that compromise operational integrity or aviation safety will not be tolerated, regardless of the individual involved.

The Authority assured passengers, crew, and airport workers of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance across all Nigerian airports.

FAAN said the matter remains under investigation and warned that all parties found culpable would face appropriate legal consequences.
