The caucus’s decision to support any decision taken by Adeleke was sequel to the growing rumour of his plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress.

The decision to support Adeleke’s decision on his next political move was taken at the PDP caucus meeting presided over by the governor and attended by the deputy governor, Kola Adewusi; Deputy Senate Minority leader, Lere Oyewumi; members of the House of Representatives from the State, Bamidele Sallam; Clement Olohunwa; and Taofeek Ajilesoro.

Also in attendance were the South West Vice Chairman of the PDP, Kamorudeen Ajisafe; Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, Deputy Speaker, Ireyode Oyewusi, Secretary to the state Government, Teslim Igbalaye, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Kazeem Akinleye, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Senator Oluwole Alabi.

In a statement signed by spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed, obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, the leaders who commended Adeleke’s leadership and performance in office, mandated him to continue consultations with all stakeholders locally and nationally.

“The caucus meeting has in attendance representatives of all sections of the party and government namely the National Assembly caucus, the State Assembly caucus, the State Executive Council, the State Executive of the party, the Special Advisers’ Forum, the elders caucus and the state chapter of ALGON leadership.

“The meeting was held today at the Banquet hall of the Government House with detailed discussions and contributions by all leaders in attendance. After a briefing from Governor Ademola Adeleke and exhaustive deliberations by leaders, the meeting issued a communique to signal its direction on the issue at the moment.

“In the communique, the PDP state leadership resolved to follow Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke wherever he goes. The meeting however recognised that the Governor is still consulting on the next lines of action,” the statement read in part.
