Three serving senators from Kebbi State, elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have formally declared their intention to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
The three Senators, who are key players of the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Adamu Aliero, representing Kebbi Central, Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi representing Kebbi North and Senator Garba Maidoki representing kebbi South, were all led to the President’s office, where they had a closed door meeting along with the APC Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The brief meeting also had in attendance the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi State Governor, Mohammed Nasir Idris, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto among other party stakeholders.
There has been gale of defections to the ruling All Progressive Congress mainly from the opposition PDP.
Recently, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori stunned the nation when he and other loyalists defected to the APC.
This comes as concerns mount that the country is drifting towards a one party state, which the presidency has debunked.
