The Olurin Royal family of the Akalako ruling house of Eruwa, in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State has reaffirmed the installation process of Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, Ajobo Olurin I, as the Eleruwa of Eruwa, as lawful, transparent and a joint decision of the Eruwa kingmakers.

Olaribikusi ruling house asked the Governor Seyi Makinde to reverse the appointment of the new monarch, Oba Adegbola, threatening to seek legal redress in court.

Addressing journalists on Friday, head of the Olurin Royal family of Akalako ruling house, Chief Pade Babalola, said that the process of nomination, selection and enthronement of Oba Adegbola, Ajobo Olurin I, followed the due process, stating that it was a joint decision of the Eruwa kingmakers which was ratified by the government of Oyo State.

Babalola also reiterated that the process from beginning to the end was monitored by the government at the state and local levels, security agencies, relevant stakeholders and others.

He urged the people to resist any action or inactions that will bring disrepute to Eruwa people and the Eleruwa royal stool.

He said: “The process which led to the emergence of Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa, was legally backed, yet has the unanimous support of the Kingmakers.

“There’s no cause for alarm. Nobody influenced anyone, the kingmakers exercised the power given to them, and they all agreed, it was their unanimous decisions that produced the monarch that was authenticated by the Governor.

“Traditional institutions hold lots of values and norms in the development of our society, because of the many roles it portends, especially at the grassroots.

“Our country is plagued with a lot of security challenges, the government alone can’t do it, that’s the more reason why we can’t afford to remain dormant. As a town, we need to progress. Some people are enjoying the system as dormant as it was.”

However, the family head enjoined the people to accept the selection process and move on for the progress of the community, urged to avoid any form of misinformation that may lead to unwanted crisis in the town.

“Some people are fueling crisis, because that’s their own means of survival. Many of them have turned themselves to Shakespeare, a person whose lineage has no connection with royalty will attach less value to the institution, and that’s just what some people have turned themselves into.

“All they want to do is to scatter everything since their lineage has no inheritance of the royal institution. The coronation committees and the official date of the event will soon be unveiled by the government,” the family head added.

He lauded the elders council, youths, religious organizations, sons and daughters of Eruwa land, working to sustain the unity and love, urging them to intensify efforts at maintaining peaceful co-existence between the component parts that predate modernity.
