Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, the Commissioner in Charge of Oyo State’s Ministry of Public Works & Transport joined others on Tuesday to celebrate with Parrot Xtra Media Network boss, Ambassador Olayinka Agboola on the fifth anniversary of his popular Radio Show, Parrot Xtra Hour on Splash 105.5fm, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

Prof Shangodoyin who was also the celebrity guest on the day’s episode of the show used the opportunity to pray for both Parrot Xtra Media Network, Splash 105.5fm and Lagelu 96.7fm.
Said the Professor of Statistics: “I am happy to be here today to mark the fifth anniversary of the radio show. I can still remember that I was the very first guest you had on the show five years ago when I was the Commissioner in charge of Oyo State’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

“I bless God’s name on your behalf and I pray that the Almighty will continue to sustain Parrot Xtra Media Network, Splash 105.5fm and Lagelu 96.7fm radio stations owned by our father, Oba Adebayo Akande.”

While responding, Ambassador Agboola appreciated the Commissioner and his team for creating time to join him on the live Radio Show.

“We are most honoured that you were able to create time to join us as we celebrate our fifth anniversary as Radio Show producers. We appreciate this gesture. We must equally use the opportunity to congratulate the government of Oyo State under Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde for the transformation we are all witnessing in the state. Our roads are now comparable to what we have in major cities abroad.”

Agboola then went ahead to explain why the fifth anniversary of the Radio Show was being celebrated in a ‘low-key’ manner.

“We decided not to deploy too much volume in the celebration of our fifth anniversary as radio program producers because the very big one is coming on Monday, May 5 this year by God’s Grace.
“On Monday, May 5, we plan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Parrot Xtra Magazine and PMParrot.com – and of course, by God’s special grace, my 60th birthday. Our consultants, Ceedee Resources under Sir Clement Ige are already at work to ensure that the day records a huge success.”

Agboola also spoke passionately about his achievements as a media owner in the past 20 years.

His words “It has not been easy navigating through the murky waters in this industry. God has been there as our Pillar of Support. We love and enjoy what we do. It is serious hard work. We are proud to say it anywhere that what we do, nobody does it in Nigeria. We use the radio to generate content for both our Parrot Xtra Magazine and the online platform, pmparrot.com

“You see, we bring in a celebrity guest on to our Radio Show, after the interview session, we transcribe, publish on our website, later, we download and publish in our colourful magazine. To God be all the Glory.”

Agboola continued “I thank all our crew members at Parrot Xtra Media Network for their steadfastness. I also appreciate Prince Wale Michael of Online Dynamix for promising and delivery our heavily customized anniversary cake. We equally appreciate Mrs Omolola Benedict Ojo for supplying us drinks.

“I must also appreciate the management of Splash/Lagelu FM for the opportunity given to us to express ourselves on air. Specifically, I salute Alagba Tunde Olawuwo, the General Manager of the radio stations who is also here to celebrate with us.”

Professor Daud Shangodoyin who led others to cut the anniversary cake was accompanied to the Radio Show by Dr Taiwo Lasisi, the Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Chief Babatunde Tijani (Double Tee) as well as the coordinating director, Engineer Rauf Amoo and other top directors of the Ministry of Public Works & Transport.
Parrot Xtra Hour/Ayekooto on Splash 105.5fm runs live every Tuesday between 11 am and 12 noon.

James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives and founder of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), has officially picked up the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The forms, which include the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, were obtained on April 28, 2026, following a payment of ₦100 million. This move effectively kicks off the President’s campaign for a second term.

The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, on Tuesday in Abuja, declared the process open and presented the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to Faleke, who also serves as the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the Presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on Saturday, February 6, 2027.

The commission also announced that party primaries, including the resolution of related disputes, will run from April 23, 2026, to May 30, 2026.

USD To NGN: Current Exchange Rates For April 28, 2026

Published

on

By

The Nigerian Naira maintained a steady yet cautious position against the US Dollar as the market opened for trading today, Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Financial analysts are observing localised fluctuations in liquidity across both the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) and the parallel market segments.

Official Market (NFEM) Activity

In the early trading hours of the official window, the Naira showed resilience, trading at approximately 1,360.19 NGN per 1 USD. This follows a trend of minor adjustments as the FMDQ Securities Exchange records ongoing transactions from institutional buyers and sellers. The rate has seen slight volatility since the market opened, moving from an initial 1,359.23 NGN to its current level as demand and supply forces seek a daily equilibrium.

The Central Bank of Nigeria continues to monitor the official window closely, ensuring that the transparency of the “willing buyer, willing seller” model supports price discovery while mitigating drastic shocks to the local currency.

Parallel Market Trends

The informal parallel market continues to operate at a premium, reflecting the immediate retail demand for the greenback. In major cities such as Lagos, Kano, and Port Harcourt, currency dealers are quoting the Dollar between 1,480 NGN and 1,495 NGN.

The gap between the NFEM and the parallel market remains a focal point for economic observers, as it often indicates the level of unmet demand in the official sectors. Traders in the parallel market suggest that small-scale importers and individual travelers are the primary drivers of the current activity in the informal sector this morning.

Factors Affecting Today’s Rate

Today’s market performance is being influenced by several key macroeconomic factors. Global oil prices remain a significant driver, providing the necessary foreign exchange reserves to support the Naira. Additionally, internal market liquidity is being shaped by the clearance of corporate foreign exchange backlogs and seasonal demand for international payments.

As the day progresses, participants expect the market to remain within the current range unless there is a significant intervention or a shift in global market sentiment. Stakeholders are advised to keep track of the closing rates later today to gauge the definitive performance of the Naira for the midweek trading period.
