Ibadan Chiefs Hail Adeleke For Approving Prince Haastrup As New Owa Obokun Of Ijesa

Traditional leaders in Ibadanland, including Mogajis, Baales, chiefs, and market leaders, have expressed gratitude to the Osun State Government for approving Prince Haastrup Adesuyi as the Owa Obokun of Ijesa-elect.

In a statement issued by Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, Coordinator of the Ibadan Compounds Peace Initiatives (ICPI), the chiefs described the decision as a significant milestone for the Ijesa community and its traditional institutions.

The statement highlighted the approval as a pivotal step towards fostering unity and stability in Ijesa, commending the Osun State Government for its dedication to preserving traditional governance and the prestigious Owa Obokun title.

The chiefs also praised Prince Haastrup’s leadership qualities and commitment to community development, emphasizing that he is well-suited to take on the revered role.

The statement expressed confidence that his ascension would bring about positive changes and enhance the socio-economic conditions of the Ijesa people.

The Chiefs stressed the need for collaboration between traditional rulers and government to address pressing issues facing the Ijesa community.

They called for continued support from the Osun State Government in fostering a conducive environment for traditional institutions to thrive, emphasizing the role of such institutions in promoting peace and development.

The Mogajis also highlighted the historical significance of the Owa Obokun title, which has been a symbol of leadership and authority in the Ijesa kingdom for generations.

They reiterated their commitment to supporting Prince Haastrup in his new role, pledging to work together to ensure the prosperity and well-being of the community.

The Mogajis expressed hope that the state government would continue to prioritize the recognition of traditional institutions and their contributions to societal development.

They however urged other communities to follow suit in acknowledging the importance of traditional leadership in fostering unity and progress.
