The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 55-year-old man, identified as Olubunmi Johnson, for allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo, on fire in their apartment on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in the Ota area of Ogun State.
JomogNews gathered that the incident occurred at about 8:30 pm on Friday, following a disagreement between the couple at their residence in Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo.
The suspect was said to have doused his wife, Kikelomo, with petrol and set her on fire.
While the exact circumstances leading to the confrontation remain unclear at the time of this report, the spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola told our correspondent that Johnson has been detained in connection with the crime.
“The police officers from the Ilogbo Division quickly took action, resulting in the arrest of the 55-year-old suspect.
“The husband doused his wife’s body with petrol and set her on fire with a match. Witnesses to the incident immediately rushed her to the hospital.
“Upon receiving the report, our detectives quickly took action and arrested the husband, who has since been detained,” Odutola added.
