Gunmen have kidnapped Aribibia Fubara, a director working with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service in Port Harcourt.
The abduction occurred when the assailants said to be six, arriving via a speedboat from the Okirika Waterfront, targeted the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, the state capital, seized their victim and whisked him away to an unknown place.
They were said to have shot many times in the air before zooming off with Sir Aribibia John Fubara, a Knight of Saint Christopher, in the Anglican Communion.
The younger brother of the victim, Emmanuel Fubara, who confirmed incident, said the matter had been officially reported to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the development.
She said: “Yes, the command is aware of the incident. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of all tactical units and alerted all area commanders to ensure he is rescued unhurt. Also, the CP has given them an order to ensure the suspects are apprehended and make them face the law.”
