The incident happened on Thursday at about 12: 30 pm when the victim was carrying out some repair works in a section of the hotel.

Okon who was about 24 years of age, slipped and hit his head on the floor and became unconscious, JomogNews gathered.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre by the staff of the hotel for immediate attention.

Unfortunately, he was later confirmed dead by doctors.

Before being taken away from the scene of the incident, the management of the hotel contacted the men of the Central Police Station (CPC) who visited the scene.

However, another account about the death of the artisan claimed that he was electrocuted while carrying out some repair works on electrical installation in the hotel.

When contacted for reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka confirmed the death of the artisan but did not give details about the matter.

She said that the management of the hotel where the artisan was working called the attention of Central Police Station, Umuahia, to inform them about the incident.

She noted that the scene was visited by policemen from the CPS while an investigation was ongoing.
