Police Detain Inspector After Son Stabbed 23-Year-Old Student To Death In Delta State

Inspector Kingsley Ogbantu, the father of Destiny Ogbantu, who allegedly killed 23-year-old Onyebuchi Ernest Emeka, has been arrested.

Inspector Ogbantu was “arrested as proxy for his son’s action” and is currently in police custody.

Recall that on the evening of Friday, September 22, 2023, Destiny Ogbantu, a student of Madonna University, got into an argument with 23-year-old Onyebuchi Ernest Emeka, who was a Computer Science Student of Oghara Polytechnic.

The fight took place near Block D, Police Barracks, Opposite “A” division, Warri, Delta State.

During the fight, the suspect ran upstairs to the “D” block apartment and allegedly returned with a knife and a dagger with which he stabbed Onyebuchi Ernest Emeka.

The victim was rushed to the hospital by his family be he didn’t survive.

The tragedy has thrown his family into mourning, especially his mother who is inconsolable.

Following Onyebuchi’s death, the mother of the suspected murderer “instantly rushed back to their apartment inside the barracks, packed all her children, including the suspect, and absconded from the barracks.”

Their whereabouts are still unknown.

The father of the suspect, Inspector Kingsley Ogbantu, has now been arrested and is currently in police custody.

Meanwhile, the Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Civil Rights Council has intervened in the matter, urging the Nigeria Police Force not to sweep the matter under the carpet.
