JomogNews Nigeria reports that amidst the age controversy online, the former governor of Lagos State marked his 71st birthday on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

Taking to his Instagram page, Melaye shared a copy of the Guardian newspaper, where Tinubu granted an interview.

According to the former senator, Tinubu’s age is stated as 52 years in 1998 whereas he claimed 71 years after 25 years.

Melaye in the social media post said Tinubu ought to be 87 years in 2023, a simple mathematics which many netizens said he has failed and questioned how he arrived at the said age, instead of 77.

He wrote: “the Guardian newspaper of October 1998. It contains the interview granted by Tinubu on return from exile.

“His age was stated to be 52 years 1998. Simple Arithmetic will easily establish that he is not 71 years old that he claims to be now in 2023, but rather 87 years.”
