He had to self-isolate as a precautionary measure required of all international travellers arriving in Nigeria in case they had been exposed to COVID-19.

Some of the staff of the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom who were thought to be active participants in the president’s engagements in the country have tested positive for the virus.

But it was not known whether they were ever in close proximity with him.

However, despite the isolation, President Buhari has continued to attend to official documents including the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) on Monday.

The presidency Monday confirmed that he is taking measures to ensure that he protects himself while attending to such official documents.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, revealed that all documents brought to his attention are sanitized before they reach him.

He said: “The President is truly isolating as required following international travel.

“During this period, which ends on Wednesday, he will be attending to urgent and critical documents.

“It is important to note that all documents coming to Mr President are screened and sanitized with specialized equipment before and after they reach him.

“The PIB bill just signed passed through the same process.”
