Fayose’s Candidate, Eddy Olafeso Accuses Seyi Makinde Of Bringing In Thugs

Published

The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Peoples (PDP), South West, Eddie Olafeso, has accused the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of sponsoring political thugs to the zonal congress in Osogbo, capital of Osun on Monday.

Recall that the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, had alleged that armed men numbering more than 150 invaded the hotel where he lodged.

He also claimed that the thugs suspected to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo State, came to the venue of the congress in more than 10 buses.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Olafeso condemned the invasion of the congress by the thugs allegedly brought in Oyo state governor.

He claimed that the thugs were lodged in the hotel where Makinde resided, adding that the hoodlums left with the governors on Monday evening.

Olafeso said he and others chose not to engage the thugs because it is the right thing to do, saying that he does not want the blood of the innocent on his hands.

The PDP chieftain added that his faction led by former Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose chose to overlook over-voting at the congress in the interest of the party.

He also described his opponent and former deputy governor of Oyo state, Taofeek Arapaja, as the puppet of governor Makinde.

Meanwhile, Fayose has claimed that the just concluded People Democratic Party (PDP) Southwest zonal congress witnessed over-voting.

Reacting to the election on Twitter on Monday night, Fayose said he and others chose to overlook over-voting at the congress because of the interest of the party.

“Like I said in my speech at the beginning of the congress that we should win together and we have indeed won together,” he wrote.

“Whatever may be our reservations on the issue of over-voting, we have chosen to look at the larger picture, which is the PDP.

“We must therefore use our energy and resources to rebuild the party.”

Fayose added: “Arapaja’s 343 and Olafeso’s 330 votes, has simply shown strength on the two sides, this should be explored by the party, going forward.

“I thank the National Working Committee (NWC) for helping to bring this congress behind us.”

Abba Kyari Allegedly Builds Multi-Million Naira Mansion Made Of Glass And Steel In Borno- Resident Reveals

A resident of Borno state has said the bribery allegation against Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari by suspected fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, didn’t come to him as a surprise.

The resident in a private message to a Nigerian academic and media scholar, Farooq Kperogi claimed Kyari is currently building a mansion on Jemina Road, Damboa.

Claiming the gate of the house was made of glass and steel, he alleged that the police chief offered N70 million to a neighbor who has a house behind his mansion “so he can have his house out of the way to enable him have straight access to the main road from this mansion.”

“Good evening Prof. Just reading your post on the Abba Kyari saga. It didn’t come to me as a surprise. Kyari is so super rich for the job he does. He is building a mansion on Jemina road of Damboa, that house is something else. It is the first gigantic double-gated house I’m seeing in Maiduguri, the gate is made of glass and steel.

“He wanted paying (sic) of a neighbour who has a house behind him 70 million naira so he can have his house out of the way to enable him have straight access to the main road from this mansion. And with a couple of people who have told stories implicating him, and them being shut up, it doesn’t come as a surprise at all,” Kperogi quoted the Borno resident as saying.

The United States Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, had issued an arrest warrant against Kyari for his alleged links to Hushpuppi, who is standing trial for various offences that include internet fraud and money laundering, among others.

Hushpuppi has since pleaded guilty to the charges and, if convicted, risks a 20-year-jail term, three-year supervision upon completion of jail term and monetary restitution to the tune of $500,000 or more.

“The defendants allegedly faked the financing of a Qatari school by playing the roles of bank officials and creating a bogus website in a scheme that also bribed a foreign official to keep the elaborate pretense going after the victim was tipped off,” said Acting United States Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison.

“Mr. Abbas, who played a significant role in the scheme, funded his luxurious lifestyle by laundering illicit proceeds generated by con artists who use increasingly sophisticated means.

“In conjunction with our law enforcement partners, we will identify and prosecute perpetrators of business email compromise scams, which is a massive and growing international crime problem.”

“Mr. Abbas, among the most high-profile money launderers in the world, has admitted to his significant role in perpetrating global BEC fraud, a scheme currently plaguing Americans,” said Kristi K. Johnson, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office.

The court documents also outlined a dispute among members of the Hushpuppi conspiracy, which allegedly prompted him to arrange to have an individual identified as ‘co-conspirator’ Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, jailed in Nigeria by DCP Kyari.

According to the affidavit, “Kyari is a highly decorated deputy commissioner of the Nigeria Police Force who is alleged to have arranged for Vincent to be arrested and jailed at Abbas’ behest, and then sent Abbas photographs of Vincent after his arrest.

“Kyari also allegedly sent Abbas bank account details for an account into which Abbas could deposit payment for Vincent’s arrest and imprisonment.”

The Inspector General of Police has ordered an internal review of the United States’ authorities’ allegations against Kyari.

Baba Ijesha’s Lawyer Speaks On How Police, Ministry Of Justice Brutalize Actor’s Rights (Video)

Adesina Ademola Ogunlana, counsel to embattled actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has thrown more light into how the actor accused of defiling the 14-year-old foster daughter of comedienne, Princess, was granted bail by a Magistrate.

In a video posted online, Ogunlana said ;

”Our client that has been in detention for more than 30 days has been granted bail at the facility of his detention. The magistrate that granted him bail is Chief Magistrate Toyin of the Lagos state Judiciary.

The Chief Magistrate in partnership with the Ministry of Justice in partnership with a private organization, Police Decongestion Scheme led by a former chairman of the NBA in Ikorodu, Bayo Akinlade, visited Panti and under the decongestion scheme, visited that facility and met Baba Ijesha.

Something was curious there. His name was not even entered as very much reliably leant.

The Chief Magistrate being bold and experienced, demanded to see him and he was brought to see the team.

He came towards them limping and as we have described before, he was emaciated and bail was granted to him summarily by the Chief Magistrate and this is very very commendable.”

Ogunlana said the bail was granted ”essentially on health grounds” and that the Magistrate said the offense is bailable.

”The conditions of bail are that Baba Ijesha must have two sureties. One of the sureties must be a level 10 officer, a civil servant. The other one should be a blood relation of the thespian.

The bail is put as N500, 000 in large sum. It’s not security. It is just a bond that if he should run away, the sureties will pay that. We are very sure he will not run away. The verification is to be done by the OC Legal of the SCID Panti.”

Speaking further, Ogunlana said this is very good news as it is a victory for everyone.

”It is not a victory for Baba Ijesha alone. It is for everybody. Rights must be respected. Laws must be respected. The idea of mob lynching, the idea of lopsided action when it comes to rights and priviledges of fellow citizens should be decried.

I want to appreciate Chief Magistrate Toyin for the courage, for doing the right thing.

For stepping into this matter. You remember the police had pandered to public opinion of some activist who were saying he should never be released and hung it on the neck of JUSUN strike that they would have charged the man to court and were even talking about the Attorney General of Lagos state which with due respect to him, I wonder in the history of defilement, how can somebody who is not biased, who is not malicious say a prima facie case of defilement has been disclosed upon the facts of this case?

We will look into that and take that up. Baba Ijesha’s rights has been brazenly brutalised” he said

Ogunlana added;

”As far as we are concerned, both the police and the Ministry of Justice are to be indicted for the unnecessary brutalization of Baba Ijesha’s rights. If a person is entitled, you give him his entitlement.”
