Jomog News Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has threatened to sanction CNN Over its report on the Lekki Shooting, calling it “irresponsible journalism”.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a live televised address on Thursday described the report by the foreign news medium as “irresponsible journalism” and called for the sanction of CNN over the misinformation in the report.

He described the event of October 20, 2020 as a “massacre without bodies.”

The minister while alleging that CNN relied on social media video without verification to produce its report, insisted that not a single body has been produced or a single family has come out to claim their family member was killed at the Lekki toll gate.

“This should earn CNN a serious sanction for irresponsible reporting,” he said.

While condemning CNN for the report, the Minister recommended BBC’s report on the Lekki incident.

Lai Mohammed further said that the Federal Government was satisfied with the role played by security agencies, especially the police and the army, throughout the period of the protest.

He also challenged Nigerian Disc Jockey, DJ Switch to quit spreading falsehood and present her evidence before Lagos State Panel of Inquiry.
