The US Secret Service has ramped up security around Democratic Party’s candidate, Joe Biden, with his chances of becoming the next president increasing.
Jomog News Nigeria reports that the US Secret Service has increased security around the candidate of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, as the possibilities of him becoming the next president are increasing.
Extra team of agents have been sent to Biden’s campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.
The former Vice-President is widely expected to be declared winner ahead of incumbent President, Donald Trump.
The Secret Service, which is an agency under the Department of Homeland Security, is in charge of protecting the White House and senior government officials and also visiting high officials, and others.
As a former vice president, Biden could have requested Secret Service protection before then, but reportedly did not.
The Agency already assigned some agents to protect Biden around early July, after he won the Democratic Party’s presidential primaries.
The Secret Service is sending reinforcements to Wilmington, Del., starting Friday to help protect former vice president Joe Biden as his campaign prepares for the possibility he may soon claim victory in his bid for the White House, according to two people familiar with the plans.
This decision of the US Secret Service came after Biden’s campaign organisation alerted it that he will be using a convention centre in the area to make a major speech on Friday, November 6.
