The incident happened on Yahya Madaki Way, along Kiddies Roundabout, in Katsina State.

According to an eyewitness, the vehicle attached to the military chief, never stopped after the accident while the lifeless body of the victim, identified as Alhaji Salisu, was left on the road.

A police officer was reportedly talked into picking the victim’s body from the accident scene and was certified dead at the General Hospital Katsina at exactly 5:45pm.

It was gathered that the man met his untimely death while distributing invitation cards for his daughter’s wedding, which is a couple of days away.

Salisu was said to have suffered multiple fractures on his arms and legs and sustained very deep cuts to his head.

“Roughly two hours after he was pronounced dead, the 17 Brigade Army unit eventually sent some representatives to the hospital to enquire about him, but they were referred to the police division handling the case. I understand these men spoke in hushed tones all through, raising suspicion about a potential plan to sweep the injustice under the carpet.

“At the very least, the culprits need to be punished and Salisu’s family heavily compensated. As a society, we’re several miles away from military responsibility to civilians but I hope the Chief of Army Staff will not cover up his boys this time around,” the eyewitness said.
