LAGOS STATE INAUGURATES NEW GOVERNING COUNCIL FOR LAGOS STATE COOPERATIVE COLLEGE

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on Wednesday, inaugurated the new Governing Council for the Lagos State Cooperative College, Agege, with a charge to set a precedence of excellence.

Speaking at the inauguration in his office at Alausa, the Deputy Governor challenged the new council members to live up to the expectation of the responsibilities committed to their care.

Describing the composition of the council as awesome, Hamzat charged members to justify the confidence reposed in them and ensure that the aim of setting up the college is achieved.

He said: “I want to urge you all to work assiduously to achieve the aim of establishing this college. In your own little corner, try to do the little you can do, taking into consideration the caliber of personalities and different professional background of members of this Board.”

The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. Lola Akande, in her address, said the inauguration of the Committee members demonstrates the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration towards ‘Making Lagos State a 21st Century Economy”.

She, however, implored the new council members to make use of global best practices in designing policies that would take the College to enviable heights.

In his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mr. Oladele Ajayi, charged members of the governing council to re-invigorate the vision and mission of the college by evolving a strategic road map.

“You need to be very diligent and uphold the integrity which the assignment deserves. With your wealth of experience, I am sure are up to the task”, he said.

Members of the Board include Mr. Oyebowale Raji (Chairman), the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives Mrs. Balogun Sherifat Bolajoko, a representative of the State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Onakoya, Omolayo Taiwo, Provost of the College, Mr. Ojomu AbdulRaufu Akorede and representative of Lagos State University, Prof Oguntola-Laguda Danoye.

Others are the Director of Cooperatives Services, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Mr. Ibraheem Zulikah Olufunmilayo, President of Lagos State Cooperative Federation, LASCOFED, Mr. Ayeola, Tajudeen Oriyomi, the Registrar of the College, Mrs. Osomo Risikat Ololade and two members with relevant experience in Cooperative matters, Mr. Braimah, Bashir Ademuyiwa (a retired Permanent Secretary) and Prince Falade Olufidipo Olayemi.
