Lagos: Seventeen suspects arrested for cultism and gang violence

On 21/02/2020 at about 1420hrs, Ijora Badia Police Station received a distress call that two rival cult groups armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, engaged themselves in a battle for supremacy at Iso Isu area Ijora Badia and inflicted various degree of injuries on each other.

Police operatives from Ijora Badia Division and Special Strike Force on Social Miscreants from the Command Headquarters, Ikeja were mobilised to the area. Five suspects were arrested.

The suspects are Olaniyi Abiodun ‘m’ 21 years old of No. 28, Exeter street, Amukoko; Emola Kamal ‘m’ 20 years old of No. 28, Epe street, Amukoko; Muritala Gbadeyanka ‘m’ 18 years old of Badagry area; Kadiri Bashorun ‘m’ 28 years old of No. 24, Ireti street, Ijora Biadia; and Adebayo Ebiesuwa ‘m’ 25 years old of 27, Bale street, Ijora-Badia. They belong to Aiye and Eiye confraternities.

In a related development, on 23/2/2020 at about 1100hours, Ikorodu Police Station received an information that members of Aiye and Eiye Confraternities attacked each other at Ladega area ikorodu and one Lateef Ganiyu Akinpelu a.k.a Eti ‘m’ 24years old was seriously injured. Police operatives from Ikorodu division, Area N, Shagamu Road, Ipakodo, RRS and SARS were mobilised to the scene. The injured person was rushed to General hospital Ikorodu where he is currently receiving treatment.

Twelve suspects were arrested namely, Ajayi Ibrahim ‘m’; Isiaka Abdullah ‘m’; Yusuf Balogun ‘m’ and nine others. One locally made pistol was recovered. Investigation is ongoing, the suspects will soon be charged to Court.
Meanwhile, there was an srrest of a notorious burglary gang leader and recovery of stolen items
On 21/02/2020 at about 1300hrs detectives from Ikorodu Police Station arrested a serial burglar one Ganiu Solomon ‘m’ 37 years old of No. 5 Okuku Street Ota-Ono Ikorodu.

He is arrested in connection with series of complaints received from residents of Ota Ono area, Ikorodu on incidents of burglary and stealing. All the complains received indicated the same modus operandi, suggesting the fact that the crime is perpetrated by the same syndicate. One of such cases was reported on 04/11/2019 at about 1833 hours by one Nkiruka Ezeokobe ‘f’ of Mojisola Sari Street Ota-Ono Ikorodu.

The suspects mostly break into residential buildings when they notice that the occupants are not at home or must have slept. They pass through the ceiling and windows, removing the burglary proof on the windows. Items recovered from the suspect include one samsung phone valued at two hundred and thirty five thousand naira (#235,000.00) and one gold necklace valued at one hundred and fifty thousand naira (#150,000.00) among others as well as the implements they use in house breaking. They are part of the items stolen from Nkiruka.

The suspect confessed to the commission of the crime. Investigation is ongoing. Efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of his gang.
Man arrested for forging Raiders Identity Cards
21/02/2020 at about 1930hrs, detectives from Ikorodu Police Station and Taskforce arrested one Ojo Adeyinka ‘m’ 33years old of No. 1 Miracle Villa Street Abafo Ogijo, Ogun State. He is a 2013 graduate of Mass Communication. The suspect is arrested for forging Riders identity cards of Motor Vehicle Administration, Agents of Lagos State Government. This follows a complaint received from one Prince Ibrahim Audu ‘m’ the Station Manager of Riders Card, Ikorodu division. He sales the said forge nt prosecution.
