EndSARS: “There Is Need To Get A New Structure…” – IGP…
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has said the training of a new police unit to take over from the Special Anti -Robbery Squad (SARS) which was scrapped on Sunday, will commence next week.
Jomog.com.ng reports that the IGP made this disclosure when Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly Davido, visited him in office in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Monday over the ongoing #ENDSARS protests.
During the meeting, the Police boss said with SARS being disbanded, there was need to get a new structure to carry out the duties the defunct police unit was carrying out, which is fighting violent crimes.
According to the IGP, the new police unit will be intelligence -driven, properly trained and only act on special occasions that require their attention. He added that the unit would be made up of fresh personnel with a fresh orientation and not officers from the scrapped unit.
IGP Adamu said opportunities would be created for members of the public to participate in and make inputs to the formation of the new unit, this was even as he revealed that this was the first time they have decisively taken to dissolve SARS and called for calm as they continue to resolve all the issues.
Speaking further, the IGP who noted that Davido‘s visit to talk about the issue is the best way to deal with the current problem, said in the formation of the new unit corrections would be taken from the experience of SARS.
His words: “We just disbanded yesterday so protesters should calm down and give us time to fix the problem. The general public will be part of the process of getting a new outfit.
“I’m talking to you so I will keep talking to many others and get civil societies involved and get their input towards the new unit,” he said.
Adamu who promised to investigate all cases of brutality and bring perpetrators to book, said the issue of compensation to the families of those affected by SARS’ would be addressed when investigations are concluded.
“We want justice to be done and justice will be done,” he said.
The police boss said officers of the disbanded would be retrained and given other responsibilities in the Force, but will not be reabsorbed into the new unit.
“We admit the trust gap is wide but we will work to bridge that gap,” he said.
On the other hand, Davido urged every officer part of SARS be relieved of their duties.
The DMW record label boss who also demanded the immediate release of all arrested protesters, called for justice for the victims of SARS brutality and compensation for their families.

Rotimi Salami In Tears As ‘Kilanko’ Struggles At Box Office
Nollywood actor and producer Rotimi Salami recently expressed deep concern over the poor performance and low audience turnout for his latest film, “Kilanko,” in Nigerian cinemas.
The movie, which hit theaters on March 6, 2026, was a labor of love that took three years to produce and was directed by the late Allwell Ademola.
In an Instagram post, Salami, in a video with veteran actress Yetunde Wunmi, revealed that the movie’s weekend sales were disappointing, putting it at risk of removal from theaters.
Appealing to fans for support, Salami thanked those who attended promotional events and screenings, but acknowledged that the turnout was lower than expected.
He warned that if sales do not improve by the weekend, the film may be pulled from cinemas prematurely.
He wrote, “I am making this post with a heavy heart. Kilanko sales at the cinemas last weekend weren’t good. That’s why I couldn’t post throughout yesterday.
“Still, I say a very big thank you to everyone who came out at different times for the meet-and-greet, and likewise to everyone who came out to watch, but the numbers are pretty small.
“If Kilanko doesn’t make the expected figure by this weekend. It might be kicked out of the cinemas even before Ramadan is over. Please, we need all the support we can get to reach a retainable figure.
“Kilanko is surely a beautiful movie that everyone must see. Thank you, mama @yetunde_wunmi_ for the prayers”.
