The widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has reacted after a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Dr. Wahab Shittu, withdrew from representing her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, in the ongoing DNA case involving her son, Liam.

Wunmi took to social media on Tuesday to address the development. She said the repeated withdrawal of lawyers from the case was proof that truth cannot be manipulated.

“Another lawyer, a whole SAN, has withdrawn,” she wrote. “You can get as many lawyers as you want from anywhere in the world; one thing that’s certain is that you can’t manipulate this DNA.”

She maintained that she and her legal team had cooperated fully with the court since the beginning of the case. According to her, those requesting the DNA test were the ones delaying the process.

“We have never opposed a DNA test. We showed up, we waited, we followed the law,” she said. “No one can manipulate the court, and no one can manipulate science.”

Her response followed an official statement from Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), who announced that his law firm, W. K. Shittu & Co., had withdrawn from the case.

The withdrawal, he said, was due to persistent falsehoods on social media alleging attempts to influence the DNA outcome.

Dr. Shittu explained that the decision was taken “in the path of honour, integrity, and professionalism” and applies only to the DNA proceedings.

He clarified that his firm had “no personal interest in the outcome” and called for a transparent process using reputable DNA centres within or outside Nigeria.

The law firm’s withdrawal marks another turn in the high-profile case, which has drawn wide public attention since Mohbad’s death.

Wunmi concluded her post by reaffirming her commitment to justice. “Let the truth speak for Liam, for Mohbad, and for justice. November 11 is around the corner. We will be there,” she said.
