A dramatic incident unfolded at the Government House in Kano when a drone unexpectedly fell on Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s head while he was delivering a speech during a Sallah homage he paid to the state government on Sunday.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, sparked speculation and allegations that the emir was stoned.

Some viewers wrongly believed that the emir had been attacked, but people at the scene later explained what really happened.

The drone operator later came forward and said the fall was not planned.

The drone operator, Salim Ameenu, admitted that he was in charge of the drone that crashed.

He explained that the drone’s battery ran low while it was flying, which made it lose control and crash close to the emir.

He expressed regret for the incident and said it was not meant to cause harm.

Despite the unexpected situation, Emir Sanusi continued his speech without showing fear or anger.

Many who watched the video said his calm reaction during the moment was worth noting, especially since it happened in public and during an important festival.

This incident came at a time when political matters in Kano are tense.

The state has been in the news following the return of Emir Sanusi, who was removed from the throne years ago by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

He was replaced by Aminu Ado Bayero. But recently, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf brought Sanusi back as the emir, leading to court cases and division among supporters of both traditional leaders.
