Popular Nigerian socialite, Mrs Khadijat Adebisi Edionseri, fondly called Cash Madam, has joined her ancestors at the age of 89.
According to a statement by one of her sons, Mr Adebayo Adebowale, on behalf of the family, she died on Sunday, January 5, 2025, following a brief illness.
“With deep gratitude to Allah for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Khadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede), who returned to her Creator on 5th January 2025 at the age of 89, following a brief illness,” part of the statement read.
The statement added that the funeral ceremony would take place according to Islamic rites on Monday, January 6, 2025, at her residence located at Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta by 4 pm.
“Her life was a shining example of grace, dignity, and unwavering faith. Princess Edionseri touched the lives of many through her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to both her family and her community. She taught us the importance of love, resilience, and faith in Allah, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations,” it added.
“As we grieve this monumental loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. Her laughter, warmth, and the values she instilled will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we navigate life without her physical presence”, the family added.
‘The funeral will take place according to Islamic rites on Monday, 6th January 2025, at 4:00 PM at her residence in Abeokuta GRA. May Allah (SWT) forgive her shortcomings, grant her Jannatul Firdaus, and strengthen us all during this difficult time. Ameen”, the statement concluded.
Cash Madam gained prominence for her entrepreneurial acumen as she would wheel the large sales proceeds – making up coins and notes – to the branch of Barclays Bank (now Union Bank) and was specially allocated a room and a group of cashiers to count.
