The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the husband of Mrs Toluige Olokoobi, mother of Oreoluwa the “mummy calm down” boy, days after news broke that she committed suicide.
It was earlier reported that Mrs. Olokoobi took her own life for reasons best known to her, leaving behind three children for her husband.
“She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left three kids for her husband including the popular Mummy Calm Down boy.”
This heart-wrenching news comes three years after her son, Ore, became an internet sensation when a video of him telling her to ‘calm down’ when she was rebuking him went viral.
One of the residents of the area also confirmed her death saying the deceased committed suicide in front of her one-year-old son.
She added that the deceased worked as a medicine distributor while her husband worked as a taxi driver and car dealer.
In the wake of her untimely death, Chidi Nwabuzor, the Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, confirmed her husband’s arrest to BBC Pidgin on Thursday, November 9.
Chidi disclosed that the husband is currently in police custody for questioning and will be subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
He also confirmed that the woman’s body has been deposited in the morgue.
Nwabuzor said;
“He alerted the neighbours who followed him to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. He’s still with the police and will soon be transferred to the State CID for further investigation.”
Meanwhile, Nigerians are currently anticipating further report on the investigation.
