Marriage Is Not For Everyone – Actress Dayo Amusa
The screen goddess, in a lengthy post via her Instagram page, challenged the widespread notion that marriage automatically eliminates loneliness, deeming such expectations unrealistic.
Amusa emphasized that a partner is not meant to fill all voids or alleviate every burden, but rather to address deeper needs.
She stated that marriage is a significant commitment that should not be rushed into, adding that isn’t a necessity for everyone.
The movie star preached on the need to love oneself as one can’t give to another what they don’t have.
She said: “I sometimes wonder if marriage is a must. Then I come to the conclusion that it isn’t for everyone. Who we marry is one of the most important decisions in life, the concept of marriage has taken a new turn lately as we’ve witnessed not only a high rate of divorce & separation but partners devising violent methods to end their marriage. O sad gan ni.”
“If you think marriage will cure your loneliness, you’ll be having too many unrealistic expectations. Your partner is not meant to fulfil you, he or she is not designed to meet your desired needs or bear every burden you face in life.
“Marriage ‘no be’ for everyone o, some people just want to be single and that’s okay. But even some people who are in happy relationships shouldn’t necessarily be running to the altar. Getting married is a massive commitment.
“I believe so bcos you’re committing to spending a lot of time together, there is the till death do us part, but which really shouldn’t be taken lightly ‘rara’. But some of us are not sure about what party that we want to take & that’s okay. Marriage is not one-size-fits-all.
“Even if you’re ready to commit to one person, you don’t necessarily have to do that in a white dress with a whole lot of paperwork. Commitment can look different to different people.
“Marriage is the right option for some people but for others, it may not be the right fit. Give yourself a chance to decide. Love yourself, know that you’re beautiful, and don’t give up on yourself for others. What you don’t have, you can’t give. You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Rotimi Salami In Tears As ‘Kilanko’ Struggles At Box Office
Nollywood actor and producer Rotimi Salami recently expressed deep concern over the poor performance and low audience turnout for his latest film, “Kilanko,” in Nigerian cinemas.
The movie, which hit theaters on March 6, 2026, was a labor of love that took three years to produce and was directed by the late Allwell Ademola.
In an Instagram post, Salami, in a video with veteran actress Yetunde Wunmi, revealed that the movie’s weekend sales were disappointing, putting it at risk of removal from theaters.
Appealing to fans for support, Salami thanked those who attended promotional events and screenings, but acknowledged that the turnout was lower than expected.
He warned that if sales do not improve by the weekend, the film may be pulled from cinemas prematurely.
He wrote, “I am making this post with a heavy heart. Kilanko sales at the cinemas last weekend weren’t good. That’s why I couldn’t post throughout yesterday.
“Still, I say a very big thank you to everyone who came out at different times for the meet-and-greet, and likewise to everyone who came out to watch, but the numbers are pretty small.
“If Kilanko doesn’t make the expected figure by this weekend. It might be kicked out of the cinemas even before Ramadan is over. Please, we need all the support we can get to reach a retainable figure.
“Kilanko is surely a beautiful movie that everyone must see. Thank you, mama @yetunde_wunmi_ for the prayers”.
