The accident occurred at Ogunmakin axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, after Four Square.

The crash, which occurred at about 8:45pm on Saturday, involved the CNHTC trailer with registration number, XA802KKM; and the Mazda bus marked SHK684XA.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said 13 persons were involved in the crash – 12 male adults and 01 female adults.

The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, told DAILY POST that eight men were injured, while the only women and three other men in the bus lost their lives.

Okpe disclosed that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere as bodies of the dead victims were deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara.

“The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed which led to loss of control on the part of the Mazda bus and it rammed into the stationed-truck,” Okpe explained.

Meanwhile, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State, Ahmed Umar, described the crash as an avoidable act “if caution was put in place, using common sense speed limit, especially as it was raining.”

Umar advised motorists against speed violation, warning motorists to drive defensively

He commiserated with the families of the crash victims, enjoining them to visit the FRSC Command in Ogunmakin area of Ogun for details of the crash and reclaim the properties of the victims recovered from the crash scene.
