A former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye, has lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to a serving House Representatives member, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf.
Melaye who failed to secure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket when he polled 99 votes against TJ Yusuf who is currently representing Kabba/Bunu Ijumu Federal constituency, who polled 163 votes alleged that there was serious gang up against him.
TJ Yusuf, a three terms House of Representatives member had levelled with Dino on Monday night when they both scored 88 votes apiece; leading to a rerun.
But at the rerun on Tuesday, TJ was able to secure a majority of the votes.
Yusuf, while speaking after he was declared the winner, extended the olive branch to his co-contestants, urging hem to join hands with him to win the general election.
He commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries, promising to continue with his good work if elected at the general election.
In a post on his social media pages, Melaye who congratulated Yusuf wrote “The Primary has been fought and won. I congratulate Hon. T.J YUSUF and thank all those who voted in the first and second ballot for me. The Gang up is unimaginable but l give God praise. God bless you all. SDM”.
