The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan on Monday joined the 2023 Presidential race.
Lawan’s friends purchased the All Progressives Congress, APC, nomination forms at the International Conference Centre, ICC.
It was learnt that Lawan’s friends were led by Chief Sam Nkire, a member of the National Caucus of the party and 15 other Senators.
The leader of the group, Sam Nkire, while speaking with journalists, said: “We are not here on our own, we have his backing. Even though friends and brothers contributed to purchase this form for him but he has given us the go ahead.”
This makes the Senate President the 24th aspirant to pick the APC’s expression of interest and nomination forms.
APC had scheduled its primary election for May 30.
