In a disturbing escalation of a social media feud, Nigerian content creator Mitchell Mukoro, known as King Mitchy, reportedly consumed a substance believed to be Sniper insecticide during a TikTok livestream on Saturday evening.

This followed an earlier incident that same day where she was seen consuming a bleach agent (Hypo) on live video.

In the livestream, Mitchy was seen consuming a substance believed to be “Sniper” while in tears, as concerned viewers and workers scrambled to intervene and prevent her from causing herself harm.

The livestream ended abruptly while her workers were trying to rush her to the hospital.

The Nation reports confusion unfolded against a backdrop of intense online conflict between Mitchy and social media activist VeryDarkMan.

The feud, which had been brewing for weeks, centered on allegations surrounding her charitable activities.

Mitchy had detailed her recent project of renovating a school in just six days. She had also questioned VeryDarkMan regarding his handling of public donations he had received since the start of 2025.

According to the influencer, the relentless online harassment resulting from the controversy led to the loss of her business Instagram account.

In a new Instagram post, the management retracted its initial statement, saying the influencer was not dead and she was doing well.

“Michelle is okay now,” the post reads.

Sniper belongs to the DDVP chemical family, (dichlorvos) 2, 2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate compound.

It is an organophosphate widely used as an insecticide to control household pests in public health and protect stored products from insects.

The product, marketed by Swiss-Nigerian Chemical Company, is one of the most sought-after insecticides among Nigerians due to its perceived effectiveness.

But while the product is specifically made for insecticides and pesticides, it has raised concerns on numerous occasions due to its intake among people attempting to commit suicide.

According to a study, “pesticide self-poisoning account for at least one-in-seven suicides globally.”

In 2019, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) had prohibited the open sale of sniper and other products containing DDVP due to its increased use for suicide.

Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, has issued a formal response to allegations made by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Seyi denied the allegations linking him to an ongoing online dispute between controversial activist VeryDarkMan and content creator, King Mitchy.

King Mitchy recently renovated a public school within six days with financial backing from Seyi Tinubu. She later became embroiled in an online exchange with VeryDarkMan over allegations of failure to account for public donations received since 2025.

In response, VeryDarkMan accused Seyi Tinubu of sponsoring Mitchy’s charity work and further escalated the controversy.

It was also reported that in a new video posted on his Instagram page, the activist called on the public to hold both Seyi Tinubu and Mitchy accountable should anything happen to him.

Reacting, Seyi Tinubu in a series of posts shared on his Instagram page, described the claims and insinuations made about him as “false,” clarifying that his only interaction with King Mitchy was in a public setting where he offered financial support for her non-governmental organisation, NGO.

“Over the past few days, my name has been deliberately drawn into an online dispute between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and King_Mitchy (‘Mitchy’),” he wrote.

“Let me be clear: the allegations and insinuations made about me are false.”

Seyi Tinubu explained that he met Mitchy once, alongside others, and provided financial assistance towards her NGO activities as part of his broader support for youth empowerment initiatives across Nigeria.

According to him, a follow-up meeting was scheduled to receive updates on the impact of the donation, but it did not hold due to ill health.

“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” he stated.

The President’s son expressed concern that a feud he neither initiated nor participated in was being used to tarnish his reputation.

He further alleged that VeryDarkMan “appears to have been looking for a trigger” to attack him and seized the situation as an opportunity.

“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he added.

Seyi Tinubu further condemned what he described as online bullying and harassment, warning that escalating attacks could have serious mental health consequences.

“I will not be bullied, and I will not dignify fiction with panic,” he wrote. “No disagreement should descend into harassment that risks someone’s wellbeing or safety.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to philanthropy, noting that for over a decade, through his foundation and personal donations, he has supported initiatives in education, enterprise, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

“Philanthropy and outreach must never be politicised or weaponised,” he said. “Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation.”

He rejected the accusations and called for de-escalation, restraint, and a return to “truth and responsibility”.

“Noise will fade. Character and work endure. I remain committed to serving Nigerians, especially our youth, with integrity and transparency,” he concluded.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti confirmed recent kidnap attempts by men suspected to be cattle herders in Abia State but assured residents that the situation is currently under control.

Otti disclosed this in Umuahia on Friday while fielding questions from newsmen at the February media chat with journalists, stating, “I am aware of those incidents and I can assure you that the police are on top of them.

“I actually got a report from the Commissioner of Police on the two incidents today. They are isolated incidents but they happened all the same.

“And because they happened, we need to put procedures and everything in place to ensure that they don’t repeat. But I can assure you that they are isolated and we have in place measures to ensure that those do not happen anymore.”

The incidents occurred the previous week and involved people suspected to be cattle herders who fled after men of the Abia State Homeland Security intervened.

Governor Otti, who reviewed his achievements across all sectors of the Abia economy, also disclosed that the recently flagged-off Enyimba Hotel reconstruction, which has been earmarked for repairs, is owned by the Abia State Government.

According to Otti, “Abia State Government owns 80 per cent. The balance of 20 per cent is owned by the families of ACCIMA — Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture — members who had invested in the hotel. By the time we valued everything, we got valuers and what they are entitled to is 20 per cent.

“Of course, the state government does not intend to continue to hold 80 per cent. So if you have money now, you can come and we will sell to you. They — Radisson Blu — are international hotel managers and you must put yourself in a particular way for them to agree to come and manage your hotel.

“It was a good thing because we got them in before we did anything. So they came in with their expertise. The hotel must be in a particular state. It is a five-star hotel, so you must meet minimum standards for them. They must first of all see that the place can afford the hotel brand.

“They must also have faith in the economy and in the management of the economy before they will sign the dotted lines, which they signed, I think, last year. So they are going to lend out their brand, lend out their management, manage the place and we own the place — or any other investor.”

On the nearby Aba River, into which residents have been dumping refuse, the governor said, “We actually do have a comprehensive plan for the Aba River. First of all, to dredge it and let it flow properly. I think it comes all the way from the Blue River. So when it is not flowing, that means you have that kind of problem. It is going to be dredged.

“We have also been working to set up a leisure and entertainment centre there. So we have good plans for that. We have also engaged with some of the companies that discharge their waste and we have made it an offence that is punishable. You must have a way to treat your waste. It is irresponsible to discharge your waste into a flowing river. Some people drink from it.”

Also speaking on the alleged airport project of the previous administration, Otti said, “The EFCC has been inviting people whose money somehow got into their accounts. So we are still on it. And I am sure that at the appropriate time, we will get our money back.”
